Q: What inspired you to become a barber?
A: Simply because it makes people happy.
Q: What do you like most about cutting hair?
A: It's great to see the happiness on customers' faces when they see their hair done. I can tell what trouble customers are having by touvhing their hair. I like to fix that problem. The comfort you can get by shampooing is also important.
Q: What makes you different from other barbers? Why should people go to Kanno?
A: It's a locally-based barber, and it's a place where you can hace a lively conversation while getting your hair cut. It's also a place for customers to relieve everyday stress. I have customers from Hyogo and China who have been coming here fro over 25 years.
Q: How long have you been cutting hair?
A: I have been cutting hair for 30 years.
Q: What are some things you think you could get better at?
A: Getting used to new techniques. I want to get better until I can do it instinctively.
Q: What are the most memorable events in your 30 years of career as a barber?
I have watched over the life of my customer, who was a kindergartener until he became an adult and started his own business. Also, I will never forget when a customer who had been coming to my shop for many years passed away due to old age. For customers, I feel that my shop is a part of their lives.
